Two Openings at this time: Regional Planner (intern) and Financial Analyst (Contract Services)

Regional Planner (Intern)

Nature of Work

 

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Regional Planner (Intern) is responsible for providing staff assistance to the Mid-Missouri Regional Planning Commission member communities in the development of regional studies, grant assistance, mapping activities, and other special projects, as may be required.

 

Duties and Responsibilities  (include but not limited to) 

 

This job description is a general description of essential job functions.  It is not intended as an employment contract, not it is intended to describe all duties someone in this position may perform.  All interns of the Mid-Missouri Regional Planning Commission are expected to perform tasks as assigned by supervisory/management personnel, regardless of job title or routine duties.

 

Qualifications

 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with preference given to major course work in the fields of planning, public administration, community development, environment, or other related fields of study.  One year of relevant experience is preferred Knowledge and experience in the use of GIS applications is desired.

 

Skill in the preparation of written reports is desirable and competency in communications with public officials is essential.  Must possess the ability to work well with co-workers and desire to work in a team atmosphere.

 

Physical Requirements

Individual must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle to be used for business purpose travel within the region.  Travel requirements approximately 20%.

 

Salary-Work Schedule

$12/hour.  MMRPC core office hours are 8am to 4:00pm. Monday–Friday.  Occasional attendance at meetings outside of core office hours may be required.  It is anticipated the intern will be available from mid-May thru mid-August.

Financial Analyst (Contract Services)

Nature of Work
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for providing staff support in completing Community Grant Closeout Reports for projects funded through the State Emergency Management Agency.  Work activities will include the documentation of expenditures, required permits, contracts, and correspondence related to projects funded with FEMA Flood Hazard Pre-Mitigation funds.

Qualifications 

Qualifications for this job include graduation from an accredited college or university with preference given to major course work in the fields of accounting, public administration, or a related field of study, and previous experience in auditing/accounting functions desired.

 

Skill in the use of financial spreadsheets, and executing written reports is desirable and competency in communications with public officials is essential.

Salary-Work Schedule

This job will be classified as a “contract service position” with duration of the assignment thru the completion of an estimated twenty audit (20) reports.  Expected length of assignment/contract is estimated to be 4 to 6 months.   Salary is negotiable depending upon qualifications  with a not-to-exceed provision for each closeout report.  This is a contact service position, with no benefits.
